Yolanda Hadid Defends Herself Over Granddaughter’s Beach Photo

When it comes to defending her family’s precious moments, Yolanda Hadid isn’t backing down.

The former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star found herself at the center of controversy after sharing birthday photos from her son Anwar Hadid’s 26th birthday celebration on June 22. Among the images was a sweet beach snapshot featuring her 4-year-old granddaughter Khai, daughter of Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik, enjoying time with her uncle while wearing a swimsuit.

Social media users quickly voiced their disapproval in the comments section. “This is really inappropriate,” one critic wrote. “A child’s privacy should always be respected posting such a photo is not okay. Please think about how this might affect her in the future.”

The 61-year-old grandmother wasn’t having any of it. “Please go and harass somebody else’s feed,” Yolanda responded firmly. “You are not welcome here!!!”

A Devoted Grandmother’s Love

This isn’t the first time Yolanda has shown her dedication to her granddaughter’s happiness. During an Architectural Digest home tour of her Texas ranch in August, she revealed a special candy section in her pantry created specifically for Khai’s visits.

“This is inspired by my granddaughter Khai when she comes, because she loves candy,” Yolanda explained in the video. “I said, ‘Oma will make you one little section.'”

The controversy highlights the ongoing challenge celebrity families face regarding privacy boundaries. When Khai was born in September 2020, Gigi penned an open letter requesting that “paparazzi, press, and fan accounts” refrain from publishing photos showing her daughter’s face. “… You know we have never intentionally shared our daughters face on social media,” she wrote. “Our wish is that she can choose how to share herself with the world when she comes of age, and that she can live as normal of a childhood as possible, without worrying about a public image that she has not chosen.

“It would mean the world to us, as we take our daughter to see and explore NYC and the world, if you would PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE blur her face out of the images, if and when she is caught on camera. I know it’s an extra effort- but as a new mom, I just want the best for my baby, as all parents do… and I hope this can continue the conversation to protect minors in the media, even if they come from a public family.”

Despite her split from Zayn in October 2021, Gigi has spoken openly about their successful co-parenting arrangement. “Zayn and I do our custody schedules months in advance,” the supermodel told Vogue in March. “That doesn’t mean that it doesn’t change here and there, but we help each other out and have each other’s backs.”
