Anthony Richardson's preseason started out in one of the worst ways it could have, with the Indianapolis Colts' third-year QB suffering a finger injury on the second possession. The injury would end his day prematurely, and prevent him from showing the team if he has grown enough to be named their week one starter.
Richardson's suffering from another injury brings to the forefront one of the biggest concerns surrounding him: his struggle to stay healthy. Fox Sports' Jason McIntyre spoke about the recent injury and offered some harsh criticism regarding where he believes Richardson's future could be headed.
Fox Sports' Jason McIntyre had some harsh words to share about Anthony Richardson
McIntyre, in one of his recurring spots on Fox Sports' show "The Herd," discussed the Colts' QB battle and Richardson's recent injury in a recent episode. And he didn't hold back any punches when talking about what this could mean for not only Richardson's chances of winning the Colts QB job but also his chances of sticking around in the NFL.
"If you do not think Richardson has the chops to be an NFL QB, he didn't start enough games in college, he can't make the reads at the line of scrimmage, he took himself out of a game last year, then you think Anthony Richardson is done," was the negative side shared by McIntyre. He also went on to assign some blame to Shane Steichen, as he didn't understand the Colts' head coach's decision not to have the full starting offensive line out there with Richardson under center. This seemed to be in response to Richardson's injury, coming after he took a massive shot from a Baltimore Ravens free blitzer. I agree with the sentiment that the Colts should have given the full starting offensive line a series or two at least, but regarding that play, the offensive line wasn't to blame.
