Young and the Restless Shocker April 29: What’s Mariah Hiding from Tessa?

Something's up with Mariah.

Tessa kept asking Mariah what was wrong on the April 29 episode of The Young and the Restless. Mariah kept insisting everything was fine, everything was great, and there was absolutely nothing to worry about. Did Mariah look like everything was fine, everything was great, and there was absolutely nothing to worry about? Yeah, we didn’t think so either. But what could the issue be? Here are three possibilities:

Nap Time

Working is hard. Traveling is hard. Traveling for work is especially hard. Maybe Mariah (Camryn Grimes) was just really tired. She got off a plane, rushed home to see her daughter, and then came to pick up some coffee before going back to doing even more work.

Perhaps the caffeine hadn’t kicked in yet by the time she saw Tessa (Cait Faribanks), so Mariah was doing her best to express enthusiasm for her wife when what she really wanted to do was pass out cold. Simple as that.

Family Secrets

Mariah claimed that Sharon (Sharon Case), Nick (Joshua Morrow), and the kids were having a blast in London. But what if that’s a lie?

What if Mariah heard from Nick that her mom had a breakdown after everything she’d just been through — after all, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) is going full PTSD, why shouldn’t Sharon? — but Nick asked Mariah to keep mum so Victor (Eric Braeden) wouldn’t find out and make one of his famous, “Here is what I insist be done about this,” speeches.

Cheaters Never Prosper

Or maybe, like us, Mariah is very, very confused about what’s been happening between Tessa and Daniel (Michael Graziadei) while Mariah has been away. They have been spending an awful lot of time together…playing guitar. And talking. And connecting. And having an emotional affair?

Remember when Phyllis acted surprised that Tessa was the person helping Daniel get his head together…but then instantly jumped onto the “Great, now we can work together to keep my son from doing something I don’t want him to do bandwagon?”

What if Phyllis was only pretending to be surprised? (Phyllis? Lying? Say it ain’t so?) What if she’s been plotting this move for days? And what if she texted Mariah an (anonymous) photo of Tessa and Daniel to get her to doubt her marriage, break up with Tessa…and leave Tessa free for Daniel? And for Phyllis to manipulate?
