Kaedan Korczak is going to be in Vegas for a while longer.
On Wednesday, the Vegas Golden Knights announced they re-signed Korczak to a four-year contract extension with an annual cap hit of $3.25 million.
A second-round pick of the Golden Knights in 2019, Korczak has remained with Vegas throughout his professional career. He is coming off the best season of his career, skating in a career-high 40 NHL games this past season. Korczak recorded ten points and put up a +15 rating, the latter placing third amongst all Golden Knights defensemen.
The extension cements Korczak as a regular on the Golden Knights roster going forward, and his emergence has come at a time of flux for the defensive corps.
Nic Hague was traded to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Jeremy Lauzon and Colton Sissons, while Alex Pietrangelo is likely going to spend the remaining two years of his contract on long-term injured reserve. As a result, Korczak is looking to crack the NHL lineup for the first time as a full-time player. This extension shows that the Golden Knights have confidence that the young defenseman can reach that goal.
Korczak earned himself plenty of respect with a strong season, and he has been rewarded with a new contract and a spot in the lineup.
