Young & Restless Shocker: There’s More to Nick and Sharon’s Situation Than Meets the Eye

Nick and Sharon have landed in a frightening situation, what with Cane having his assitant and security goon lock them up in a delapidated room. As dire as the circumstances may seem, however, there’s more to what’s going on here than meets the eye.

We were quite honestly shocked that Nick didn’t fight harder to keep from being locked up. Particularly since Sharon was taken hostage along with him and she had just survived being held captive by Martin Laurent mere months before. While Nick would undoubtedly been able to take down Cane’s nerdy assistant in a confrontation, the goon had a gun, so whatcha gonna do?

Interestingly enough, Jack and Diane decided not to intervene when they saw Nick and Sharon being led away at gunpoint. Probably wise on their behalf, but also curious given that this is a soap and powerful men like the Abbott are prone to injecting themselves into dangerous situations.

After a bit of protest, Sharon and Nick were stuffed into a musty little room in the chateau and the door locked from the outside by Carter. After a lot of ineffective door-pounding and hollering by Nick, the pair realized they were well and truly stuck. They tried to make themselves feel better by assuring each other that Jack and Diane would alert the others and that Victor would move heaven and earth to free them, but a traumatized Sharon being trapped will undoubtedly make things more dire and cause Nick to go all caveman.

The truth is that there is a whole lot more to their situation than meet the eye… or should we say less? That’s right, SOAPS readers, “Shick” isn’t really as bad off as it might seem. In fact, they could have walked out of the closet-sized slammer mere moments after they were shoved in there!

“How?!” you might ask. Well, what Nick and Sharon, and seemingly the set designers, failed to notice is that the hinges are on the inside of the door. As this Young & Restless viewer pointed out, escape would actually be quite simple:

As silly as it seems, we’ll have to play along with the soap, believing that they’re well and truly trapped until such time as something big goes down… and it’s coming! What do you think will happen with Sharon and Nick?
