Last week, General Hospital fans were treated to yet another fun and drama-filled Nurses Ball (see photos). However, that wasn’t the only exciting thing that happened… Soaps.com first reported the news that The Young and the Restless vet Rory Gibson (ex-Noah) had replaced Chad Duell and had been cast as the soap’s new Michael — and daytime fans weren’t the only ones who had something to say about the recast…

Many of Gibson’s past and present castmates came out to send their thoughts on his new daytime gig — his second one, to be exact — and joined fans in congratulating him on the next venture of his career. Young & Restless’ Jason Thompson (Billy), who spent many years playing Patrick on General Hospital, stated, “Dude! Stoked for you. And Maurice Benard [Sonny], be good to my boy!” Beth Maitland (Traci) chimed in, “Fantastic, honey! You’re gonna kill it,” as Courtney Hope (Sally) agreed, “Damn right!” While a few, like Melissa Ordway (Abby), Conner Floyd (Chance), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis) and Brytni Sarpy (Elena) sent their congrats with emojis, Lauralee Bell (Christine) said, “So happy for you!”

Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea) kept the sentiments going by adding, “Yay, Rory!” with Sean Dominic (Nate) joking, “Congrats buddy. You’ve gone to the dark side!” Christian LeBlanc (Michael) shared, “Congrats!” and Kelsey Wang (ex-Allie), who played Gibson’s Genoa City love interest, shouted, “Yay!”

As viewers know, Gibson first appeared in Port Charles when Michael stunned the crowd at the Nurses Ball by suddenly appearing and taking Wiley home. And one of the most stunned by his appearance was Willow. However, when it comes to Gibson in the role, Katelyn MacMullen couldn’t be happier and gave the actor a big shoutout, “Woohoo!”

One thing is for sure, it’s going to be a rocky road going forth (watch out, Drew!) and we can’t wait to see Gibson make the legacy role his own!
