3 Sabres Top Prospects Named Trade Candidates

These three Sabres prospects are considered potential trade candidates heading into the summer.

The Buffalo Sabres are expected to have a busy summer. After extending their playoff drought to 13 years, their goal is to bring in talent to help improve their roster immediately. 

Due to this, the Sabres' 11th overall pick is expected to be available for the right price. However, in a recent article for The Buffalo News, Mike Harrington also listed Isak Rosen, Viktor Neuchev, and Nikita Novikov as three prospects the Sabres could look to move for immediate help. 

Rosen, 21, was selected by the Sabres with the 14th overall pick of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot winger appeared in his first seven NHL games this season, posting zero points and a minus-3 rating. While he struggled with the Sabres, he was excellent for the Rochester Americans. In 67 games, he set new career highs with 20 goals, 30 assists, and 50 points. 

When noting that Rosen is a former first-round pick developing in the right direction, he could be a nice trade chip for the Sabres to use. 

Neuchev, 20, played his first professional season in North America this year, and it was a solid campaign for the 2022 third-round pick. In 57 games with the Amerks, he posted 11 goals and 28 points. 

Neuchev's strong campaign could grab the attention of some clubs around the NHL. The speedy forward showed this season that he has the potential to become an NHL talent.

Novikov, 20, also played in his first AHL season in 2023-24 and put up some solid offensive totals from the point. In 65 games with the Amerks, the 2021 sixth-round pick posted three goals to go along with 23 points. 

At 6-foot-4, Novikov is exactly the kind of prospect defenseman that NHL clubs love to have. He is already showing promise offensively and still has plenty of time to build on his physical play.
