49ers expected to sign productive pass-catcher from NFC East

The San Francisco 49ers are addressing one of their team needs.

The Niners are signing former Washington Commanders tight end Logan Thomas, NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo reported on Monday.

Thomas spent the past four seasons with the Washington Commanders. He had 55 catches for 496 yards and four touchdowns last season. His best statistical season came with the team in 2020 when he had 72 catches for 670 yards and 6 touchdowns.

George Kittle is the Niners’ star tight end, but Thomas will likely help complement him.

San Francisco may be impressed with Thomas’ athleticism and view him as a natural fit in their offense.

Kittle, Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel were the team’s leading receivers, as well as running back Christian McCaffrey. Aiyuk has been pushing for a trade or new deal from the team.
