Jennifer Love Hewitt is bringing some nostalgic scream-queen energy to 9-1-1—and fans of classic horror are loving it.
In a recent interview, the actress revealed that she’s pitched a storyline for 9-1-1 Season 9 inspired by her iconic 1997 thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer. Known for her role as Maddie Buckley on the hit ABC series, Hewitt wants to blend her horror roots with the high-stakes action of the 118.
“I just thought, what if we had a call that mirrored something from I Know What You Did Last Summer?” she said. “It could be a mysterious hit-and-run, someone coming back for revenge… something that really shakes the team.”
Fans of the long-running procedural are buzzing about the possibility. Mixing slasher-movie tension with emotional rescue drama could add a bold new flavor to Season 9—especially with Maddie at the center of it.
Hewitt, who became a horror icon in the late ’90s, said the pitch wasn’t just about thrills. “It’s also about the trauma that lingers,” she explained. “And how first responders carry that with them.”
While showrunners haven’t confirmed if the idea will make it to screen, fans are already hoping it does—and they’re ready for Maddie Buckley to channel her inner final girl.
