9-1-1: Nashville': Jessica Capshaw Talks Reuniting With Chris O'Donnell, What to Expect From New Spinoff

Jessica Capshaw is trading the scrubs of Grey’s Anatomy for the sirens of 9-1-1: Nashville—and she’s not doing it alone.

The actress recently opened up about joining the spinoff series and reuniting on-screen with longtime friend and NCIS: LA alum Chris O’Donnell. The pair are set to portray two high-ranking emergency officials whose complicated past comes crashing into the chaos of Nashville’s rescue operations.

“It’s electric,” Capshaw teased. “Working with Chris again feels like coming home—but this time, we’re surrounded by fire, trauma, and some very tangled emotions.”

Capshaw’s character, a sharp-tongued FEMA liaison, is expected to clash—and possibly connect—with O’Donnell’s stoic fire chief in ways that push both to their limits. “Let’s just say… these two have history,” she added with a wink.

As for 9-1-1: Nashville itself, fans can expect a bold new tone, filled with emotional depth and high-stakes disasters that mirror real-life emergencies across the South. But it’s the personal stakes, according to Capshaw, that will keep viewers coming back.

“You’ll get the big action scenes, but the heart of this show is about people trying to survive—physically and emotionally,” she said.

With two major TV veterans at the center of it all, 9-1-1: Nashville is shaping up to be the franchise’s most emotionally charged chapter yet.
