The New York Jets settled their quarterback situation early into the free agency period by signing Justin Fields after his stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Aaron Rodgers, the Jets' starter last year, is expected to swap places with Fields and end his months-long free agency waiting game.
The situation has lacked any other substantial updates other than Rodgers' clear indication that he is enjoying his personal life right now with a minimal sense of urgency.
However, fans did finally get news from Rodgers himself about where his next home might be.
Rather than tell us where he plans on signing, he instead answered a question by telling us where he won't.
In Austin, Texas at a Q&A session with the musician formally known as Mike Stud, his buddy Rodgers sat down in front of a crowded audience for a candid conversation, with one question about a particular NFC foe being raised.
"You're a free agent now. Would you ever consider playing for the [New Orleans] Saints and making us great again?" the fan asked.
Rodgers was straight to the point with his answer.
"No."
After a moment, he added: "I've played there a couple times, but no, the answer is no. I'm too old to live in Louisiana. Sorry."
While the Saints haven't been on the Rodgers rumor mill as much as the Steelers, their questionable quarterback situation poses a fair argument why they would consider signing the veteran.
Rodgers struck this idea down in a hurry, but he did provide an even more telling hint about his future after a question about the Chicago Bears.
Rodgers has a long history with the Bears as the former quarterback of the Green Bay Packers for many years. It was another "no" about potentially playing on the Bears, but he did throw out one subtle line:
"I believe there's a team that might play in Chicago this year on a road trip,"
A team he could be alluding to? Who takes a road trip to the Windy City?
The Pittsburgh Steelers ... perhaps?
The Steelers travel to Chicago to face the Bears in Week 12 on Nov. 23.
Nobody in the crowd seemed to pick up on Rodgers' cryptic response, but we may have picked up what he's laying down in terms of where he might play this season.
