As of today, Aaron Rodgers remains noncommittal about his football future, telling reporters that he’s “nowhere close” to making a decision on whether to return to the NFL or retire. The veteran quarterback cited personal constraints and ongoing priorities outside of football as key reasons for the delay.
“I’m just taking my time with it,” Rodgers said during a media availability. “I’ve been through enough offseasons to know that rushing something this important isn’t helpful.”
Now 41, Rodgers has been dealing with life events that, in his words, require his full attention. While fans and media speculate about a potential reunion with the Jets or a farewell tour, the four-time MVP insists he’s not feeling pressured.
“There’s no timeline, no clock ticking,” he added. “I know people are eager to know, but I’m going to make the right decision when I’m ready — not when others want it.”
Rodgers, who tore his Achilles in the 2023 season opener, made a miraculous return to practice late in the year, fueling speculation of a full comeback. However, as of now, he’s staying grounded and focused on mental clarity and personal peace before committing either way.
NFL insiders believe the Jets are still keeping a roster spot open for Rodgers should he decide to play. For now, though, the waiting game continues — and Rodgers is in no rush.
