Fox sustained a knee injury in November, which he re-aggravated after taking a hit from Nick Jensen in the first round.
“It was the same knee as the hit before,” Fox said. “Just kind of re-aggravated it again. Like I said, I was able to play and just tried to play to the best of my abilities.”
The 26-year-old defenseman didn’t want to use his injury as an excuse, but made clear that it did affect the way he played at certain points through the playoffs.
“Maybe at times I think,” Fox said on if the injury affected his mobility. “Any time you hurt something, maybe you feel a little tentative. As it went on, I thought it got better and tried to create a little more, but definitely that Carolina series made me a little tentative and thought it got better as it went along.”
In 16 playoff games, Fox had zero goals and eight assists while averaging 23:57 minutes of ice time.
There were whispers that Fox was playing through some sort of injury due to his lack of speed at times, and he confirmed that was the case.
