According to Mollie Walker of The New York Post, Adam Fox sustained a mild MCL strain that he played through for almost the entirety of the New York Rangers’ playoff run to the Eastern Conference Final.

The injury occurred when Fox took a hit from Nick Jensen during New York’s first round series against the Washington Capitals.

During his exit interview, Fox said that he re-aggravated a knee injury he suffered during the regular season.

“It was the same knee as the hit before,” Fox said. “Just kind of re-aggravated it again. Like I said, I was able to play and just tried to play to the best of my abilities.”

Walker made clear that the assumption that his injury was a complete tear would be inaccurate.

It was clear that Fox was dealing with some sort of nagging injury as his speed was just not the same and he was seen laboring at times.

The 26-year-old defenseman had eight points through 16 playoff games.
