Angela Bassett has reacted to the latest heartbreaking 9-1-1 death, posting about her time with the departing actor and what it means for Athena. 9-1-1 season 8, episode 15 saw Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) succumb to a deadly virus after choosing to save Chimney (Kenneth Choi) with the only dose of the cure available. This results in a scene where he and Athena (Bassett) are separated by glass, his wife with him in his final moments as he dies. However, he did so protecting his team, doing what had to be done to save everyone else.

Now, Bassett has posted an image of her and Krause on the set of 9-1-1 season 8, alongside a caption responding to Bobby's death in the latest episode. She explains how grateful she is to have worked with her fellow co-star since the show began, saying his character will forever be part of the show in spirit. The actor also encourages fans to support Krause for the work he does beyond his time on the show. Check out what Bassett had to say below:

For eight seasons, this kind, funny, compassionate, talented actor became not only my trusted colleague, but also a dear friend. #peterkrause as #bobbynash helped to introduce @911onabc to the homes and hearts of fans around the world. I know this is hard for all of you. It’s hard for us, too. Peter’s Bobby Nash will be missed but his character will never be forgotten. He is forever a part of our family. We should all give Peter a lot of love as he expands beyond “the 118” and into all adventures that await him. Love you, my friend. Athena will never be the same.

What Bassett's Statement Means For Athena In 9-1-1's Future

It Forms A Massive Hole In Her Life Where Bobby Used To Be

9-1-1 season 8 has seen many changes for the team, such as a brief stint where Gerrard (Brian Thompson) took over as Captain and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) currently being in Texas. However, Bobby's death is a permanent alteration that will no doubt impact the team in the season's final episodes, especially Athena. The pair met in season 1 and ended up dating, later getting married while continuing to work together at Station 118. They were inseparable, making his death an emotionally difficult moment with inevitable long-term consequences.

Bassett's statement emphasizes how happy she was to have worked with Krause for so long, while also teasing that Athena is going to change because of what happened. The tragedy of Bobby's death is unlikely to only impact her for season 8's last three episodes, with 9-1-1 season 9 likely to continue exploring her pain. This massive shakeup also means someone new is going to be in charge of the 118, another possible sting depending on who gets assigned to be in charge.

Our Take On How Bobby's Death Will Impact Athena

Her 9-1-1 Storyline Is Forever Changed

With Bobby's death, Athena is going to have to cope with no longer having her husband in her life, no doubt grieving alongside the rest of the team. Whether her form of mourning will have her cope in healthy or unhealthy ways is unclear. However, Bassett's statement emphasizes how close the 9-1-1 duo were, and how, given the amount of time they spent together, her character is unlikely to be the same person again now that he's gone.
