Is General Hospital Star Rena Sofer Retiring? Here’s Everything We Know!

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that daytime vet Rena Sofer has been heating it up on the front burner as Lois Cerullo, keeper of secrets. She is a PC gem, but Lois is sitting on an explosive secret that has the potential to blow up her life.

Luckily, in real life the Emmy Award winner is experiencing much smoother sailing in her personal life. Which leads us to her talk about retirement—say it isn’t so! Let’s delve deeper into what this could mean for GH fans.

Is Rena Sofer Retiring From GH?

Rena has said the “R” word, but apparently she is considering a semiretirement. She returned to General Hospital as Lois Cerullo in 2023 after a 25-year absence. Before this she portrayed Quinn Forrester on CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful.

Rena talked to Woman’s World about her relationship with husband Sanford Bookstaver, who she divorced in 2017. They are now happily remarried which understandably led her to reenvision her future.

She said “we kinda want to semi-retire, so my bucket list is building a home that we don’t have to ever leave if we don’t want to. There will be a big studio downstairs for my woodworking and ceramics, and a dog room so we’re able to foster and keep our animals and give them space outside.”

Rena Sofer Is In a Good Place in Life

Even if Rena cuts down on her airtime, we should still be able to enjoy her portrayal of spitfire Lois as many actors have unique daytime contracts.

Sofer got her start in daytime on Another World and she also appeared in Loving as well as Melrose Place.

What’s Next for Lois Cerullo?

Onscreen, Rena’s character is living a nightmare as she tries to keep secret the fact that her daughter Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) had a child who Lois adopted out to an extended family member.

Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havens) confronted BLQ about this situation in a dramatic Friday Cliffhanger on March 7. Tell us GH fans, do you think Lulu was right to get in BLQ’s face about this sensitive matter?

How do you feel about what Lois did, and the fact that Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) is the child, now an adult and living among the Q’s at the mansion?
