Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is officially questionable for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. He’s dealing with an injury to his oblique. If he can’t play, Joe Flacco will be the man under center for Indianapolis.
Flacco came in to lead the Colts to a win over the Steelers on Sunday, after Richardson had to leave with a hip injury. Flacco was taking the majority of the first team reps in practice on Friday, according to James Boyd of The Athletic.
The Colts held off the Steelers for a 27-24 win. Flacco completed 16 of his 24 passes for 168 yards, while tossing in two touchdowns with no interceptions. Steelers quarterback Justin Fields had over 350 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns in the losing effort. He had 55 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Colts running back Jonathan Taylor had 21 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown. He’s dealing with an ankle sprain after the game. Indianapolis wideout Josh Downs finished with eight catches for 82 yards and a touchdown. And Michael Pittman had six catches for 113 yards.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson injury update
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson gave an update on his hip injury after the team’s 27-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Richardson told reporters that his hip was “still sore” but then told Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network that he would be fine. He then said he told Colts head coach Shane Steichen he could return after the initial hip injury but “tried to accelerate and couldn’t push off like I wanted to.”
The injury happened in the second quarter when Richardson took a hit to his right hip area after a 14-yard run. After missing two plays, the former Florida Gators QB returned only to leave again when he took a hard hit from Steelers linebacker Minkah Fitzpatrick late in the first quarter. Richardson tried to return to the game but was ruled out earlier in the second quarter.
