Anthony Stolarz Unexpectedly Backs Ridly Greig After Controversial Call in Leafs/Sens Game 2

After a blockbuster showdown in Game One of their Stanley Cup Playoffs series, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators were at it again on Tuesday night, and unsurprisingly, it was another physical affair.

The most shocking moment of the game happened between goaltender Anthony Stolarz and Ridly Greig, with the Maple Leafs net minder attacking Greig in the paint, before, shockingly, the Senators forward was assessed a penalty.

When asked about the situation, Greig revealed an exchange between he and Stolarz where he asked the Maple Leafs goaltender if he was surprised that Greig also got a penalty.

'Maybe a touch ya.'

This was one of the most shocking plays we've seen in recent Stanley Cup Playoffs memory, and while Greig was in the crease for a little bit of the contact, it's safe to say that more than one penalty should have been called on Toronto's veteran.

After taking a 2-0 lead at home, this series now shifts to Ottawa, and with the Senators showing much more fight in Game Two, it's safe to say that this series is only beginning, with the intensity set to pick up in a big way moving forward.

One thing we know for certain is that the physicality won't stop between these two bitter rivals, and after so many penalties were assessed in the first two games, it should continue when the series moves to Ottawa, and if the Senators can pick up a win, the Battle of Ontario is anyone's to take in 2025.
