Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz will not accompany the team when they travel to Fort Lauderdale on Thursday.
Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said he had not seen the netminder when he arrived at Ford Performance Centre for his morning media availability, but was asked if Stolarz would accompany the club on their flight to Florida for games 3 and 4.
"I doubt it. Not right away."
Stolarz sustained an undisclosed injury in Game 1 of Toronto's second-round series with the Florida Panthers. He left the game roughly 10 minutes after Panthers forward Sam Bennett collided with Stolarz around the net.
Stolarz's participation in the second round against the Florida Panthers was cut short when he was forced to leave in Game 1 in the second period following an incident where he took an elbow to the head from Panthers forward Sam Bennett. This occurred after he had already taken a shot off his mask earlier in the game. Stolarz was visibly distressed on the bench and was subsequently transported to the hospital for evaluation. Due to this injury, he was ruled out for Game 2 and his timeline for return is currently unknown, leading to Joseph Woll taking over the starting duties.
In his first start of the 2025 postseason, Woll made 25 saves to help Toronto take a 2-0 series lead.
Stolarz began the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs as the Maple Leafs' starting goaltender and was key in their first-round victory over the Ottawa Senators. He started all six games of that series, recording a 4-2 record with a .901 save percentage and a 2.21 goals-against average.
Stolarz earned the starting role after posting a 21-8-3 record with a .926 save percentage.
