Big changes are coming to Chicago P.D. in Season 13—and one of them comes in the form of Arienne Mandi, who’s officially joining the cast as a series regular.
Best known for her roles in The Night Agent and The L Word: Generation Q, Mandi brings a bold new energy to the long-running NBC procedural. She’s set to play Valeria Ortega, a decorated former military intelligence officer turned CPD recruit with a reputation for precision, control—and a reluctance to trust anyone.
According to sources close to production, Ortega will clash early on with Voight and the Intelligence Unit as she pushes back against their rule-bending methods. But over time, her analytical mind and deep-rooted sense of justice could make her a valuable—if complicated—ally.
“She’s not here to be liked,” one insider said. “She’s here to do her job—and that means ruffling feathers.”
Arienne Mandi’s addition comes at a pivotal time, with Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) departing and a noticeable shift in the team’s dynamic. Fans are eager to see how Ortega’s presence will impact the unit—and whether her past might hide more than meets the eye.
Filming is underway, and Season 13 is expected to premiere this fall.
