As Jets Hire New Coach, QB Rodgers Future Predicted

The Aaron Rodgers decision for the New York Jets looms as perhaps the biggest of the offseason after the new head coach and general manager is hired.

After a failed two-year experiment, the time might have come to move on from the four-time MVP winner, but it isn't known if Rodgers wants to play in 2025.

Plus, we don't have any indication that New York wants him back either, so there is a lot to play out regarding the future of one of the best throwers of the football we've ever seen.

But if Rodgers does want to come back and the Jets say no, one anonymous AFC executive thinks Aaron will retire as the market for him will be non-existent.

"But I'm just trying to think of a logical place for him to play and I can't think of one," the AFC executive said via ESPN. "I'm guessing he doesn't want to go to a rebuild. And if you're a contender, I'm not sure they want to take on Aaron Rodgers and all that comes with that. So, he might just come to the conclusion that he's done."

It does seem to boil down to two decisions regarding Rodgers.

Either he will return to the Jets in 2025 for one more run at it, or he will hang them up, given we aren't sure how many teams will "sign up" for a 41-year-old quarterback who will have to learn a new system along with "everything" that Rodgers brings to the table.

Rodgers did say he won't be holding anyone up with his decision, but until the new head coach and general manager are hired, both of whom will have a large say in Aaron's future, we will have to wait to see if we have seen the last of Rodgers on a football field.
