Colorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton has been creating some chatter in the rumor mill. Earlier this month, NHL insider Frank Seravalli named Colton a trade candidate, and the talk won't stop.
During a recent appearance on 102.5 The Game, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman mentioned that he believes Colton is on the Nashville Predators' radar.
Here's what Friedman said on the matter: "The other guy someone told me to look for as well at center is Ross Colton. It's an interesting one. His name is new to the trade market. He's got a no-trade clause that kicks in on July 1, and Colorado needs some flexibility. He's a good player. I do think Ross Colton is a player on Nashville's radar."

It would make sense for the Predators to target Colton. After taking a notable step in the right direction with their retool in 2023-24, they are expected to have a busy summer. One specific area they could look to upgrade is down the middle, and bringing in Colton would give them just that.
Colton, 27, had a solid first season with the Avalanche, posting 17 goals, 40 points (new career high), and 141 hits. However, with the Avalanche needing more cap space and recently giving fellow center Casey Mittelstadt a big raise, it is fair to wonder about Colton's future.
Colton carries a $4 million cap hit until the end of the 2026-27 season, which is a bit expensive for a 3C. However, if the Avalanche hope to move him, the clock is ticking, as his full no-trade clause kicks in on July 1. Thus, this will be a storyline to pay close attention to over the next few days.
