Ben Willoughby Refuses To Work With This Cast Member Again

Below Deck season 11’s Bosun Ben Willoughby has been having a rough time aboard St. David this charter season, and there’s one crew member that he shared he wouldn’t work with again. Throughout Below Deck season 11, Ben has been struggling in his relationships with the rest of the crew, especially working beneath Captain Kerry Titheradge. Ben’s second charter season aboard St. David has been markedly less dramatic than his first, but the fallout from his time on Below Deck season 11 may be more extreme. After working under Captain Kerry for the charter season, Ben has some interesting views.

Below Deck's Ben Willoughby looks unsure next to a mystery figure.

In recent Instagram stories, Ben revealed that he wouldn’t want to work with Captain Kerry again in the future. While Ben has been putting the majority of the cast of Below Deck season 11 on blast, he’s been predominantly vocal about how his opinion of Captain Kerry has changed since the early days of the charter season. “I believe you hate to stand up for what you believe is right, and in that moment, I had had enough of the way others were being treated,” Ben shared on his Instagram story after being asked about crew inspections.

”Captain Kerry treated behind the scenes staff and production poorly, so I had had enough by then. To add to the amount of micro managing I had endured since [Jared’s] departure, I had reached a breaking point,” Ben continued. He shared that the Captain had threatened him with a written warning about something Ben felt didn’t make much sense. “This is why I will never work for Captain Kerry in the future,” Ben explained.

Ben Willoughby Reveals How He Copes With Below Deck Backlash

While Ben’s had a rough experience aboard St. David with Captain Kerry at the helmBelow Deck hasn’t made that abundantly clear in the episodes of the season. When asked about how he’s been dealing with the backlash that Below Deck viewers have had against him this season, Ben shared he’s doing alright. “Ignorance is bliss,” Ben shared. “There’s no point getting upset on how you are portrayed as long as you know your truth. It’s a shame the details get cut.” Ben explained he’s not dwelling on the way he’s coming off on screen, even if it’s not genuine.

Ben’s time aboard St. David isn’t the normal Deck team experience, but he isn’t the first Below Deck star to have an issue with their Captain’s style of management. While many have found Captain Kerry to be a refreshing part of Below Deck season 11, Ben may have had some firsthand experience that made him uninterested in working with the Captain moving forward. Though Ben appears to have made strong connections on Below Deck season 11, his time with the series may not continue if he actually intends to never work with Captain Kerry again in the future.

Though Ben has been a part of Below Deck for the last few seasons, his time on the series may be coming to an end as he’s staunchly stated that he won’t be working for Captain Kerry in the future. Ben, who’s become a big part of the Below Deck franchise, has been having a difficult postseason with the majority of his cast, who he’s been calling out online for their misbehavior during the season. While it’s clear that Ben enjoyed his time on Below Deck, his reluctance to work with the crew again in the future could be tenuous.

Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 p.m. EDT on Bravo, then streams the following day on Peacock.
