Bills Finally Get No. 1 Receiver In 'What Goes Right' Scenario

All offseason, we have heard how the Buffalo Bills need a true No. 1 receiver for Josh Allen, despite last season proving he doesn't need one.

Bills Finally Get No. 1 Receiver In 'What Goes Right' Scenario

Joshua Palmer, Elijah Moore, and Laviska Shenault Jr. have come in with Mack Hollins and Amari Cooper moved on.

For most, another star is needed despite the clear salary cap restrictions; however, what if the No. 1 weapon many are clamoring for the Bills to get already is on the roster?

Fox Sports' Henry McKenna, in his "What Could Go Right" piece, in 2025 for the Bills, sees either Keon Coleman or Khalil Shakir develop into a No. 1 weapon.

"Since the departure of Stefon Diggs, Buffalo's offense has reconfigured itself in creative ways," McKenna writes. "As a rookie last season, Coleman didn’t appear particularly close to asserting himself as a top-flight wideout. It was actually Shakir who did that, even from the slot.

"But Coleman has the traits while Shakir doesn’t. For Allen to throw for more than 4,000 yards again, like he did four straight years with Diggs around, a Bills pass-catcher needs to establish himself as a centerpiece of the offensive game plan."

Shakir showed last season he can be super productive (821 yards, four touchdowns), and Coleman, despite an inconsistent season, produced enough to think he might be able to take a leap in Year 2 (556 yards, four touchdowns).

But can either become a true No. 1 weapon? Given how Joe Brady's offense isn't reliant on one player, that might be tough to accomplish.

However, Coleman emerging as a genuine threat, like in Mike Clay's 2025 projections that see Keon post 904 yards and eight touchdowns, that'll work nicely.

For months, we have heard how Buffalo needs a No. 1 receiver, but if things "go right," they might already have one on their roster.
