Minnesota Vikings star makes surprising appearance at mandatory minicamp that will start the Super Bowl hype train

The Minnesota Vikings have kicked off mandatory minicamp with a bang. They announced a three-year extension with tight end Josh Oliver, signaling another trend that the Vikings wanted to improve the running game.

Over the entire offseason, the Vikings have been focusing on fixing the trenches, and they did just that. One player that will be key to fixing the running game is the return of a healthy Christian Darrisaw. He tore both his ACL and MCL against the Los Angeles Rams in their week eight game at the end of October.

Christian Darrisaw returns to practice field

With his injury, there has been real discussion whether or not Darrisaw would be ready to go for week one. It would be about 10 months since the injury, making it a toss up.

Some of those questions were calmed a little bit on Tuesday with video that Darrisaw was back on the practice field.

Yeah, Darrisaw is back.

Now, it's important to note that this is just a drill during practice and he hasn't been shown to be doing everything at practice, but to just be out there is a big deal. The Vikings have been notoriously conservative when it comes to players returning from injury. Seeing Darrisaw working out like this, even though he has a big knee brace on, is a great sign.

This will be something that we continue to monitor throughout the offseason, but with the Vikings' conservative nature when it comes to injuries, this is incredibly notable.
