Bills' Josh Allen finds himself tied with Patrick Mahomes in the record books after six-touchdown performance

Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen are consistently linked together as the modern era's version of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, and rightly so — in recent years, the two of them have been at the top of the game, with the two teams repeatedly meeting in the playoffs.

Unfortunately for Allen and the Bills, it's been the hurdle they can't seem to get past. Both of the teams have clinched their spots in the playoffs with still over a month to play, so there is bound to be plenty of discourse about a potential meeting between these two teams yet again.

On Sunday, in Buffalo's loss to the Rams, Allen and Mahomes found their names side-by-side yet again, this time in the record books.

Seeing this stat come across the timeline hit me with an instant "of course they're tied" moment. Because why wouldn't they be? The two quarterbacks that are constantly linked and compared, with Allen putting up better stats in the regular season, especially this year, but the Chiefs holding a better record and the playoff success, it only makes sense that these two great contemporaries find themselves next to each other in the record books yet again.

Allen's performance on Sunday was otherworldly. While he tied Mahomes in one category, he did something that Mahomes nor any other player in NFL history has ever done; Allen became the first player in league history to throw for three touchdowns and run for three touchdowns in the same game.

For all his greatness, of which there is plenty, Allen has yet to win an MVP or a Super Bowl ring, two big milestones that are missing from his resume as one of the league's best quarterbacks.

For Allen and the Bills, their chances of chasing down the Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC took a pretty big hit with their loss to the Rams. The Bills are two games back with four to play. We'll see if the AFC playoffs will go through Arrowhead Stadium once again.
