The Hockey Hall of Fame revealed the 2025 selections and former Chicago Blackhawks legendary defenseman Duncan Keith was one of them. He was first eligible to be inducted this year after having been retired for three years.
Keith joins former NHL players Zdeno Chara, Joe Thornton, and Alexander Mogilny as the four from that group that will be inducted.
Keith played in the NHL for 17 seasons and totaled 1256 regular season games as well as 151 playoff games. He played 16 seasons with the Blackhawks who drafted him 54th overall in 2002 and finished his career with the Edmonton Oilers.
The imminent Hall of Famer is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, two-time Norris Trophy winner, Conn Smythe winner, and was named one of the NHL's 100 greatest players in 2017.
Keith finished his long and successful career with 106 goals and 646 points. He was a +159 and only had four negative +/- seasons. He averaged 24:40 of ice time per game throughout his career, had 519 hits, and 1742 blocked shots. Keith had a stretch of 10 consecutive seasons where he received Norris trophy votes from 2008-2017.
Keith also made the playoffs 11 times, recording 19 goals and 91 points. In three different postseasons, he averaged over 30 minutes per game. One of those was when he won the Conn Smythe with three goals, 21 points, +16, and 31:07 minutes per game in 23 games in 2015.
Keith sits 28th all-time in games played among defensemen in NHL history and is 39th all-time in points. When it comes to the playoffs, he's 29th in games played and 18th in points. The Blackhawks legend is second all-time in games played in a Chicago jersey and 10th all-time in points in Blackhawks history as well. He will be remembered for a long time and will remain one of the best Blackhawks players to ever play for the team.
