Bo Nix’s top three games in the NFL, defined by passing yards, including performance against the Chiefs

Bo Nix had an outstanding rookie season with the Denver Broncos, surpassing all expectations set for him as a rookie. The franchise got their quarterback, and can now set their sights on a playoff push in 2025.

These are some of Bo Nix’s best games from the 2024 season, while settling in as the future of the franchise with the Denver Broncos. This list focuses purely on passing yardage from the quarterback’s 17 starts as a rookie.

3. vs. Cleveland Browns 12/2/2024 – 294 passing yards

The first game on Bo Nix’s top three was a scrappy affair against the Cleveland Browns on Monday Night Football.

Nix was picked off after a tipped pass by Denzel Ward in the first half, but helped to lead the Broncos offense down the field for two rushing scores that secured a 14-10 lead. Nik Bonnito then picked off Jameis Winston and took it all the way to the house, extending that lead to 21-10.

The Browns fought back with a scoring drive to David Njoku, bringing the game back to 21-17 at halftime.

In the early third quarter, Bo Nix threw one of his best passes of the season while standing deep in his own end zone. He dropped back and fired a rocket that hit Marvin Mims right up the middle of the field, barely squeezing through the hands of a diving Denzel Ward.

Mims was in the clear and took it all the way in for a 93-yard touchdown on a third and 11 play.

Up six in the fourth quarter, Nix stepped left to evade pressure and took a shot downfield once again. This time, he was picked off by Ward, who was seemingly everywhere in the game. The Browns fought their way back in and took a 32-21 lead via a pass thrown to Nick Chubb.

Nix retaliated with another scoring drive that ended in a field goal, and the Broncos were back in front. Winston was then intercepted by Ja’Quan McMillian, who jumped up and took it in for the touchdown, sealing the game late.

While the Broncos got the win, it wasn’t one of Nix’s most efficient games. He went 18 of 35 passing for 294 passing yards, one touchdown and two picks.

2. vs. Atlanta Falcons 11/17/2024 – 307 passing yards

The top two games of Bo Nix’s 2024 season were incredibly efficient. In mid-November, during a home game against the Atlanta Falcons, the Broncos quarterback was near flawless.

It was clear that the rookie quarterback’s confidence was starting to build, throwing all over the field and hitting his mark nearly every time.

He threw touchdown passes to Nate Adkins, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims Jr., and Lil’Jordan Humphrey, as the Broncos stomped the Falcons in a 38-6 win.

Nix was 28 of 33 throwing the football, totaling 307 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. He had a quarterback rating of 145 on the day.

1. vs. Kansas City Chiefs 1/5/2025 – 321 passing yards

The final game of the 2024 regular season was Bo Nix’s most impressive, but it did come against a Kansas City Chiefs team that was resting its starters.

Carson Wentz started for the Chiefs with Mahomes and company sidelined having already locked up their spot in the playoffs.

Still, Nix dominated with his best passer rating of the season, a 152.4. He completed 26 of his 29 passes, proving his maturity and experience at the position early in his pro career. Nix had come out of college with 61 starts and was ready to take over in Denver the moment he arrived.

Just as he did against the Falcons, Nix threw four touchdowns with no turnovers. Marvin Mims Jr. had two touchdowns in the game, while Devaughn Vele and Courtland Sutton caught the other two.

Nix had a career-high 321 passing yards to round out the 2024 season. Sutton caught five passes for 98 of those yards, with a partnership expected to flourish even further in 2025.
