BREAKING: Cam Atkinson Signs With Lightning

Cam Atkinson has found a new home with the Tampa Bay Lightning after the Philadelphia Flyers bought him out.

Atkinson's Flyers career ended with a buyout just before the NHL Draft. Atkinson will still count against the Flyers' salary cap with a hit of $2,358,333 the first year and $1,758,333 the second.

The 35-year-old missed the entire 2022-23 season with an injury and returned to play 70 games in 23-24. Whether it was fatigue from missing an entire season or the beginning of the decline of his career, the Flyers opted to buy out the remaining year of his contract.

Atkinson was well-liked throughout the organization, and during his exit interview, he reflected on what he called a disappointing season.

Atkinson was rumored to be on the move to the San Jose Sharks, but reportedly, he had San Jose on his no-trade list. The Sharks later said they were not interested in acquiring the winger.
