Brittany Cartwright Made 1 Immediate Change When Jax Taylor Moved Out of Their House

Brittany Cartwright made an immediate change when Jax Taylor finally moved out of their house last fall.

In an April 2025 interview with People magazine, “The Valley” star revealed that she wanted to clarify who was now living in the Valley Village home the former couple purchased in 2019. One of the first things Cartwright did when she moved back into the house that she temporarily vacated was to swap out the front door mat for one that said, “The Cartwrights.”

“It used to say ‘The Cauchis,’” she said, referencing her ex’s legal last name. “I changed that immediately.”

In August, Cartwright filed for divorce from Taylor after five years of marriage. At the time, Taylor was still living in the family home, and Cartwright was staying in a rental with their toddler son, Cruz.

Taylor and Cartwright purchased the farmhouse-style Valley Village home in 2019 for $1.9 million, per HGTV Canada.

Jax Taylor Explained Why He Stayed in The House

Cartwright and Taylor’s marital problems were well documented on the first season of “The Valley.” But Taylor still claimed to be shocked when Cartwright moved out of their home.

During a September 2024 episode of the “When Reality Hits With Jax & Brittany” podcast, Taylor said, “When she decided to leave, I was kind of in shock. I shouldn’t have been in shock, but I was in shock. She’s like ‘I got an Airbnb, I’m out of here’ and I’m like ‘OK.’ And then people were coming at me like. ‘Why did you leave? I’m like, ‘She got an Airbnb and just took off.’ I had no idea she was even doing this.”

Taylor added that people gave him “a hard time” about not letting Cartwright and Cruz remain in the house. “I definitely would have and now I have,” he said after moving into an apartment last fall. “I have moved out. So, I moved out, got my own place which is weird. I haven’t lived on my own in 10 years.”

He admitted to Extra TV that fans will see “some really, really bad stuff” when “The Valley” airs this season. “The first two episodes are, I don’t even know who that person,” the former bartender admitted of seeing himself on the show. “It was a shell of a human being. I’m disgusted. It’s utter embarrassment.”

Brittany Cartwright Claimed Jax Refused to Move Out For Months

Cartwright claimed to People that Taylor refused to leave their home for seven months while she moved in and out of multiple rental houses with their son.

“The Valley” star, who recently confirmed that her son was diagnosed with autism, felt that Taylor should have been the one to move out from the beginning. “When you’re dealing with a child with autism, we shouldn’t be the ones moving around. That should have never happened,” she said.

Looking forward, Cartwright told the outlet that she has no plans to sell her house. “This is my house,” she said. “I’m proud of myself, that I could do it by myself.”
