The Denver Broncos got to spend the 2024 season overlooked and underestimated. Going on to win 10 games and becoming a playoff team ensures that it won't be the case again in 2025.
They spent the offseason improving their roster through free agency and the 2025 NFL Draft, as they look to take another step forward as a team this season. An under the radar addition came by signing a rookie that went undrafted and could shock the rest of the league by making the Broncos roster and, in turn, proving them all wrong for passing on him.
Could Broncos UDFA Joaquin Davis be the next diamond in the rough that Sean Payton turns into a real NFL contributor?
Joaquin Davis going undrafted didn't shock anyone. He spent all four years of his college career at North Carolina Central in the FCS. And his stats there weren't even fantastic. He recorded 1,189 yards and 12 touchdowns during his four year career, with his career highs coming in 2023 with 449 receiving yards and six touchdowns. His college production may not wow people but his athletic profile on the other hand certainly will.
He has great size at just under 6-4 and tested as an elite athlete earning. 9.33 Realtive Athletic Score or as many refer to it as RAS. He earned elite marks with a 4.36 40-yard dash, a little over a 10-foot broad jump, and an incredible 42-inch vertical, which would have been the second-highest vertical at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. His combination of size and athleticism makes him an intriguing player to watch come training camp. You would have to assume he could be a great special team producer early in his career, and he could be a very enticing developmental project for head coach Sean Payton and his offensive staff to take on as one of the team's final WR spots on their 53-man roster. For that to even be a possibility, though, Davis will have to make the most of the upcoming training camp and prove he deserves a spot on the Broncos' 2025 roster.
