Bruins: Can Viktor Arvidsson Be A Real Answer For Top Six?

After a busy off-season, the Boston Bruins will have a lot of new players on their roster once the regular-season is here. One of them is forward Viktor Arvidsson, as the Bruins acquired him from the Edmonton Oilers on July 1.

When looking at the Bruins' roster, there is a real chance that we could see Arvidsson have a spot in their top six. The Bruins' depth at right wing is not the strongest, so it could very well open the door for Arvidsson to have a spot on their second line. But will he be a real solution for the Bruins' major need for a true top-six winger?

For this to happen, the Bruins will need Arvidsson to bounce back from his tough 2024-25 season with the Oilers and regain his previous form. The veteran forward struggled during his first and only season in Edmonton, as he posted just 15 goals and 27 points in 67 games. The fit was not there for Arvidsson with the Oilers, but he now has a fresh start with the Bruins and will look to take advantage of it.

When looking at Arvidsson's recent seasons before this past one, there is reason to believe that he can get his offense back up with the Bruins. While he was limited to only 18 games with the Los Angeles Kings in 2023-24, he posted six goals and 15 points. During the season before that, he scored 26 goals and had a career-high 33 assists in 77 games. He has also scored at least 20 goals and recorded at least 48 points five times in his career.

Yet, even if Arvidsson's offense does not go back up to his previous totals next season, he still could be a decent pickup for the Bruins' bottom six. No matter the role, he should give the Bruins' forward group a boost.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Arvidsson ends up proving to be a real answer for the Bruins' top six next season. It is no secret that they need another top-six winger badly, and time will tell if Arvidsson can successfully be just that for the Original Six club.
