Brynn Whitfield revealed what led her to quit Real Housewives of New York, claimed she hoped they would “fire” her or “cancel the show,” and shared the “sign” that confirmed her decision.

On last season’s finale, castmates questioned if Brynn really told Ubah Hassan about a past sexual assault. Many of the talks were had behind Brynn’s back. Brynn, however, didn’t watch the episode until the morning of the reunion taping.

On her Please See Below podcast, Brynn was asked about having to see the finale on the day of the reunion.

“This is my body, and this is something that I’m still dealing with and that’s still very much on my mind — it’s affecting me and my life and the things I want,” said Brynn as she began to shed tears. “Multiple times I canceled confessionals or I would say … ‘Not today, we’re not talking about it.'”

Her best friend Richie then expressed, “But I also know you, and you can be avoidant, which is a normal tactic. This all led to you leaving [the show].”

“Yeah,” Brynn agreed. “I knew I was going to do it. I decided at the reunion that I wasn’t going to [come back]. I was like ‘This is too much’ … My brother and my therapist were like, ‘We’re not allowing you.'”

But Brynn shared that she debated it in her head, and she considered filming as a ‘friend,’ à la Kathy Hilton. The star suggested that she was offered a spot to return next season after they “just added a couple more people.”

“I was hoping that they would either fire me, or I was hoping they would cancel the show,” she explained. “And then I saw — we were actually filming the pod — and Paige [DeSorbo] announced her [exit from Summer House]. And I read her thing and I got a little peanut butter and jealous. I was like, ‘I want that.'”

According to Brynn, she also reached a milestone with her new dating app, and she considered it a “sign.”
