Canadiens: What Will Suzuki’s Point Total Be?

NHLFantasy on Instagram has released point projections ahead of the 2024-25 season. In a recent post on the Meta platform, the page predicted that Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki is poised to have his most productive campaign yet.

The fantasy page believes that Suzuki will reach 81 points next season, four points higher than his 2023-24 total. He started slow and steady in his inaugural year in 2019 and then in 2020, but his production increased since then and skyrocketed from 66 to 77 in another 82 appearances.

There are many players on the Habs roster sheet who are poised to have a gross uptick in offense. I believe Suzuki will be one of them and finish roughly between 75 and 80 points, and there are a few factors at play that can back up this claim.

Cole Caufield had a turbulent start to the season when it comes to his sniper status, but turned things around as the calendar progressed into a respectable 65 point display. Juraj Slafkovsky had a 50-point sophomore campaign, and with Olympic qualifiers coming up later this month, you know the big Slovak is gearing up to pull out all the stops going forward.

Additionally, special teams will receive a great deal of attention, given the lack of life the Canadiens power play has had in past years. With the promotion of Lane Hutson and, or another solid performance from Mike Matheson should heighten the units’ scoring ability.

Of course, that’s a big hypothetical when preseason starts in September and there is no evaluation of how the season will go before a handful of games pass. The previous statements are meant to be as optimistic as they are imaginative.

I’m not saying that the team will have so much production that they stumble into a playoff berth, but if the space on the ice opens up for more scoring, Slick Nick will have a rise as well as his peers.
