When Candiace Dillard Bassett left The Real Housewives of Potomac, she shared a lengthy post explaining that it was her decision to leave. Specifically, she said she had a “whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities.” That led fans to predict that she’d be focusing full-time on the music career she spoke about on the show. However, it turns out, Candiace had a much bigger reason for not wanting to continue with her role on Bravo. It wasn’t about the music.

Why did Candiace Dillard Bassett leave The Real Housewives of Potomac?
Candiace recently appeared on the Healed Girl Era podcast, where she spoke extensively about her time on RHOP. When they talked about her exit from reality TV, Candiace admitted that it was her pregnancy that led her to quit the show.
She explained, “When I found out I was pregnant, there wasn’t even a thought in my mind. It was like, ‘Well, we’re gonna step away.’”
The RHOP star announced her departure from the show the day after the Season 8 finale aired. However, the reunion was filmed a few months prior. Candiace said she was pregnant during the reunion, and she went through the whole sit-down while keeping it a secret.
“And I went through the whole reunion because we weren’t ready to announce that I was pregnant yet, and I had been asked to dial back at the reunion,” Candiace recalled. “Meanwhile, on the other side, they were dialed up and coming at me at level 27.”
She continued, “So it was like, was I told this so that they could be told that so that they could look one way and I could look one way, or did they just not follow directions?”
Based on that comment, it’s safe to assume that Candiace hasn’t changed too much since we last saw her on TV. She’ll be returning to our screens next year in Season 4 of The Traitors, along with four other Housewives. Brace yourselves.
