With the season coming to an end, many teams have started announcing their coaching staff changes, and the Canucks announced their own.
Patrik Allvin issued a statement announcing that the club had agreed with Mike Yeo to part ways:
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has mutually parted ways with Assistant Coach Mike Yeo.
The organization would like to thank Mike for all his work over the past two seasons.
According to Satiar Shah's intel, Yeo isn't departing because the team wanted to let him go. The Canucks had extended an offer to Yeo, but he declined in hopes of exploring other opportunities.
Canucks offered Yeo an extension, but he decided to explore other opportunities
Yeo had been with the Canucks for the last two years as an assistant coach. He had prior experience as a head coach, and with the many chairs remaining to be filled, it would make sense for him to pursue another opportunity as a Head Coach.
At the time being, it remains unclear as to whether or not the Canucks intend to replace him. We'll keep you posted.
