Captain America 4's Newest Trailer Just Made Captain America vs Red Hulk So Much More Exciting

The newest trailer for Captain America: Brave New World got me a lot more excited for Sam Wilson's fight against the Red Hulk in the MCU. Starring Anthony Mackie and Harrison Ford, it's been revealed that newly elected President Ross (Ford) will eventually transform into a monstrous Hulk, mirroring the character's evolution in the comics. That said, I initially found it hard to grasp the argument that Sam Wilson's Captain America (Mackie) is the Avengers best-suited to stop the new Red Hulk.

As seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson's Falcon chooses to wield the shield given to him by Steve Rogers and take on the mantle as the MCU's next Captain America. Now, Captain America: Brave New World will see Wilson working alongside President Ross, at least until forces in the shadows seemingly bring about Ross' transformation into the Red Hulk. That said, the newest trailer for Captain America: Brave New World has made me far more excited about the future confrontation between Red Hulk and Wilson than I was at first.

Captain America 4's Trailer Gives Me New Confidence For The Red Hulk Fight

I Had My Doubts After The First Trailer

As was seen at the end of the first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, the Red Hulk is shown catching Wilson's shield and slamming it down into the pavement. After all, it's a clear sign that Ross' rage-filled strength as Red Hulk looks to be on par with Bruce Banner's original Incredible Hulk, if not moreso ever since Banner managed to merge with his greener half (colloquially known as "Smart Hulk").

To that end, I naturally had my doubts about Sam Wilson's Captain America being able to effectively go toe-to-toe with the MCU's new Red Hulk. Unlike the previous Captain America, Sam Wilson has not been enhanced by a super soldier serum. Furthermore, even Rogers would struggle to take on the Hulk considering the much-stronger Thor himself could barely take Hulk on (as seen in Thor: Ragnarok).

Sam Wilson Doesn't Have Super Soldier Serum, But He Has Other Advantages

He Should Be Able To Keep Red Hulk Busy

Captain America Landing With Shockwave

That being said, the new trailer for Captain America: Brave New World better highlighted some of Sam Wilson's unique advantages that should prove useful in a fight with a Hulk, such as Wilson's ability to fly with his vibranium wings. Combined with his vibranium shield, Sam does have some added protection that could at least allow him to sustain a few hits from the Red Hulk. Likewise, the trailer also shows that the new Captain America is capable of reaching supersonic speeds and can even create shockwaves upon landing.

I could easily see Wilson potentially relying on sheer velocity to get in some hits of his own. That said, I do think that Sam Wilson's key advantage will be using his wings to keep his distance for as long as possible. It's also very likely that keeping Ross busy and waiting out Red Hulk is all Sam will really need to do during their upcoming MCU showdown.

I Can Now Get Behind Captain America Taking On Red Hulk In Brave New World

It Still Won't Be An Easy Fight (At All)

All in all, this new trailer for Captain America: Brave New World has helped me better see the vision for Sam Wilson's fight with Red Hulk. Likewise, both the new trailer and the poster have teased that Red Hulk is debuting in the MCU with a unique and comic-accurate weakness of his own. On the page, Ross' Red Hulk is unable to regulate his body temperature (hence the red skin), meaning he very quickly overheats over a long enough duration. As such, perhaps Wilson's primary goal will be to keep Ross busy and minimize casualties until the Red Hulk ultimately shuts down.

At any rate, I'm very excited to see how Sam Wilson's Captain America takes on the Red Hulk. I'm now far more confident that it will be an entertaining fight, and one that also makes sense given their respective abilities and power levels. To that end, I also wouldn't be surprised if Bruce Banner's Hulk ends up making a surprise appearance as well, either to take on the Red Hulk himself or to help set up a future confrontation in the MCU going forward.
