Jets acquire defenceman Coghlan from the Hurricanes | Winnipeg Jets

The Carolina Hurricanes announced that they have traded defenseman Dylan Coghlan to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for future considerations.

Coghlan, 26, played nearly entirety of last season in the AHL with the Springfield Thunderbirds where he led all defensemen in goals with 16 along with having 41 points.

The 6-foot-3 blueliner was acquired by the Hurricanes from the Vegas Golden Knights alongside Max Pacioretty for future considerations, so in a sense, this is sort of a roundabout return.

Jets acquire RFA Dylan Coghlan from Hurricanes

The right-handed D-man has played in 106 career NHL games between Carolina and Vegas.

With the Hurricanes have acquired Ty Smith at the trade deadline, the recent signing of Riley Stillman and the emergence of Scott Morrow, Coghlan was pushed out and this trade gives him the opportunity to potentially find a playing spot in the NHL again.
