The player who won earned two touchdowns and 152 yards in an overtime win this week helped snap a four-game losing streak.
The Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards are some of the biggest endorsements a player can receive all season long. With only one award to give out on each side of the ball per conference, there are very few winners comparable to the number of players on each team.
The award cuts through the long list of compliments that can be given like what was said about Michael Penix Jr. It also cuts through things like Jay Gruden’s opinion on Jayden Daniels.
Also, with 16 teams to choose from, it often takes some level of involvement from the entire team, whether it be the San Francisco 49ers or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Chuba Hubbard wins NFC Offensive Player of the Week
According to Pro Football Talk, the NFL’s Week 16 Offensive Player of the Week is on the Carolina Panthers. Running back Chuba Hubbard overcame all other offensive players in the NFC to earn the award.
Hubbard rushed for 152 yards on 25 carries, racking up two touchdowns.
He also averaged 6.1 yards per carry, playing a key part in blowing away the Arizona Cardinals in a 36-30 overtime win Panthers fans desperately needed.
The win was just the fourth all season for the franchise, but far from Hubbard’s only notable game.
Chuba Hubbard’s late-season award puts exclamation point on notable year
While the Panthers haven’t won much, their running back has. The back’s 152-yard performance fell short of his best in 2024 when he racked up 153 yards against the New York Giants in London.
Of course, if one counts touchdowns, Hubbard’s performance on Sunday out-stripped his performance in London on November 10. Hubbard scored just once in the overseas contest.
This season, Hubbard has rushed for 1195 yards and ten touchdowns on 250 carries. Sunday’s performance was Hubbard’s seventh game earning at least five yards per carry.
