It feels like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has wowed just about everyone at this point, but receiving especially prominent praise from Naughty Dog boss Neil Druckmann feels like a fairly big deal.
Druckmann is obviously no stranger to emotional storytelling, having been a key writer on both The Last of Us titles and numerous Uncharted games — and it's clear that Clair Obscure's emotionally-charged narrative has struck a chord.
"Rolled credits on Claire Obscur: Expedition 33," writes Druckmann on his personal Instagram account.
"I’m in awe. One of the most moving, creative stories I played in a long time."
We're sure that a lot of you reading this will agree with him on this take. Clair Obscure released back in April and the positive reactions — particularly to the plot — have been pretty much non-stop ever since.
Druckmann isn't the first prevalent games industry figure to comment on Sandfall Interactive's RPG, either. Talkative Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-tae called Expedition 33 "Game of the Year", having unlocked the Platinum Trophy.
Oh, and we should also mention that Clair Obscur was voted the best PS5 game of 2025 so far by the Push Square community. It's going to take some beating...
