The Washington Commanders have decided to cut ties with kicker Brandon McManus amid the ongoing investigation surrounding allegations of sexual assault.
The Commanders released McManus on Sunday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
McManus was accused of sexually assaulting two female flight attendants in 2023 when he was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The alleged assault happened during the Jaguars’ flight to London for the NFL International Series last September.
McManus’ attorney Brett R. Gallaway has vehemently denied the allegations. He branded the story as “absolutely fictitious” and an attempt to extort his client.
McManus played his first nine seasons with the Denver Broncos from 2014 to 2022. He won a Super Bowl ring with the team during the 2015 season.
During his lone campaign with the Jaguars last season, McManus went 30-of-37 on field goal attempts. He converted on all 35 of his extra-point tries
The Commanders signed McManus to a one-year contract worth $3.6 million in March. The team will have to push through with their OTAs this coming week without an official kicker on their current roster.
