Controversial Montreal Canadiens defenseman scores first NHL goal

Logan Mailloux was recalled from Laval this Friday by the Montreal Canadiens to replace the injured Kaiden Guhle and he did not miss a beat as he scored his first career goal.

In just his second career-game, Mailloux got his first tally which is impressive as the hyped up Lane Hutson has yet to be able to do that. However, Hutson has certainly had some amazing plays in his own right and he shouldn't be written off just yet. Overall, Hutson is a solid player and Mailloux is another example of the Habs youth movement.

Jake Evans should be commended as it is his effort which led directly to Logan Mailloux's goal. He was able to tie the game at the start of the 2nd period, while Cole Caufield had scored the first at the end of the first period.

Some believed that Mailloux was just a step away from being a bonafide NHLer but his goal certainly solidified that he is deserving of a spot on the team. At the end of the day, he was only in Laval of the AHL because of roster spots. But with injuries, he made his mark.

Unfortunately, Mailloux's goal came in a losing effort for the Canadiens. This is a match that went to overtime and even a shootout. It even went nine shooters, but the Canadiens were not able to get the job done. Regardless, the play from Mailloux should make a whole lot of folks happy and excited, moving forward.
