Dancing With the Stars Alum Lindsay Arnold Reveals How She Feels About Entering Her Dance Mom Era

Lindsay Arnold’s kids are quickstepping into her shoes.

The Dancing with the Stars alum—who was on the series for ten seasons, before leaving in 2022—recently gushed over how her daughters Sage, 4, and June, 2, with husband Samuel Cusick are starting their own dance journeys.

“It obviously is so fun for me to watch them dancing just because I'm a dancer,” Lindsay told E! News in an exclusive interview.  “But I think what makes me even more happy is watching the joy and the confidence that they've gained from their tiny dance journeys that they've had so far. Truly, that's the most important thing to me.”

The 31-year-old also clarified she wanted dance to be something they arrived to naturally.

“I will never make my children do something they don't want to do,” she said. “The only thing I care about is them finding things that they're passionate about and help them feel confident in themselves. Because for me, dance is what made me who I am. And so, watching that happen for them is so special.”

Should Sage and June’s dance journeys take them as far as Lindsay—and her younger sister Rylee Arnold—Lindsay will be with them every step of the way, “The ultimate dance mom,” she said. “That's my plan.”

A dance mom—but without the pressure of Dance Moms.

“I think that's something that I've been very conscious to help them understand and to not put that pressure on them,” Lindsay noted. “And I know everyone in my family is on board with that. If anything, so far, I feel like it's been such a really cool propelling factor for them.”

And as she helps her kids put their best foot forward—literally—the So You Think You Can Dance alum is trying to take in every moment.

“My favorite part is watching them grow,” Lindsay gushed. “I always tell people, you'll be in a phase and you're like, ‘This is the best age. This is so fun.’ And then they grow up, and you're like, ‘Wait, no, this is so fun.’ Every single phase of life with your kids is so special and unique.”

After all, as she emphasized, “You're not going to get that back. I feel like that is also probably the hardest is making sure that you're so present all the time even in the difficult moments because one day those won't be there anymore, and you'll miss them.”

So her advice for new moms? Put on your dancing shoes.

“Enjoy the sleepless nights,” Lindsay added. “Enjoy the frustration, enjoy the hard, because one day you will look back and reminisce and wish for those sleepless nights again.”

And her advice for people looking to celebrate their moms this Mother’s Day? Foxtrot to your nearest Hallmark distributor.

“Hallmark has always made gifting, especially around Mother's Day, such an easy and fun experience,” she said. “I'm very much a person that I want to make sure my gifts are meaningful and thoughtful, and Hallmark has always been my go-to. Between their gift cards, their special gifts, I'm always able to find something that is so specific and unique to each person that I'm looking to gift.”
