ITV viewers are expressing strong dissatisfaction following the latest episode of Britain's Got Talent, which aired on March 22, 2025. Critics took to social media to voice their opinions, describing many performances as “absolutely terrible.” The night featured a variety of acts including an Italian dance troupe utilizing ping pong balls and a powerful vocal performance of a classic song by Freddie Mercury. However, some performances, notably a dancing duo clad in gold and white jumpsuits, ended in failure; they were met with the dreaded red buzzer from judge Simon Cowell and derision from viewers at home.

One frustrated viewer shared their sentiments on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, “This show needs to be renamed Britain’s got zero talent now... My god it’s absolutely terrible...” Another user humorously remarked, “Britain’s got talent is the TV version of TikTok.” Simon Cowell, known for his critical views, has not been immune to mishaps on the show. Recently, he recounted an alarming experience where he “nearly died” during a dangerous stunt a few weeks prior. The 65-year-old judge told The Mirror: “I genuinely thought my days were numbered. The producers on this show just love my pain! There was one point, and I’m not lying, I genuinely thought, ‘That’s it. It’s over.'” His concern stemmed from an incident where a contestant nearly struck his head with a sledgehammer, a moment that made him reflect on the risks he was taking by participating in such stunts.

“My god, his adrenaline's on such a high, I shouldn't be doing this,” Cowell added. The experience visibly worried his fellow judges, which he noted, saying, “When I looked at them, they were really worried. I don’t want to push my luck; I did say at one point that I think I’m running out of lives here.”

Despite the mixed reviews from viewers, the show must go on. Britain's Got Talent continues next week with its usual lineup of judges: Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden, and guest judge KSI, all of whom are eager to see what the best talent across the UK and Ireland has to offer.

Among the contestants vying for the attention of judges was Jannick Holste, a 22-year-old magician and dance teacher from Germany, who also graced the stage on the same night. Jannick wowed the audience with a lively performance that blended dance and magic, dancing to the Spice Girls’ hit “Spice Up Your Life” while showcasing his tricks alongside a group of assistants. His act was met with enthusiasm, leading to all four judges — including Cowell, Tonioli, Holden, and Dixon — voting 'yes'.

Bruno was particularly impressed, stating, “I have lost all words. It was a magic and camp extravaganza.” Alesha echoed this praise, saying, “I’ve never seen anything like this. I loved every minute of it.” Amanda added her endorsement, calling the performance “super entertaining” and “fantastic.”

Jannick is no stranger to reality competition shows, having previously participated in both the American and German versions of Britain’s Got Talent. In his American stint, he showcased a similar routine but faced elimination in the semi-finals. His enchanting blend of magic and dance this time earned him a standing ovation from judges who were energized by his vibrant performance.

The current series of Britain's Got Talent is already a hit, returning two months earlier than usual with broadcasts slated for every Saturday night until May 31, 2025. Following this run, the series will conclude with the final episode crowning the next champion, who will walk away with a £250,000 cash prize and an opportunity to perform at the prestigious Royal Variety Performance.

Notably, behind the scenes, ITV has also confirmed an extension of its contract with Britain's Got Talent producers Fremantle for additional series, with sources indicating a deal may continue through to 2028. Besides, auditions for the nineteenth series have already commenced, promising fresh talents aiming to impress the judges as the show paves the way for future stars.

With its large follower base of over 46 million on social media and more than 25 billion lifetime video views, Britain's Got Talent remains one of ITV’s flagship entertainment programs. As the series progresses, audiences are left wondering who will capture the coveted crown and against the backdrop of mixed audience reviews, will more surprises await in the weeks to come?
