The World Championship ended on Sunday. Czechia emerged victorious on home ice, defeating Switzerland by a 2-0 final score.
Boston Bruins superstar David Pastrnak scored the eventual game-winning goal and did so in style. After receiving an excellent feed from Tomas Kundratek, Pastrnak fired a perfectly placed one-timer for the goal.
Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Kampf would score an empty-net goal late in the third to officially Czechia secure the gold medal.
Pastrnak scoring a gold medal-winning goal back home will forever be a massive moment in his career.
Pastrnak sent the NHL a big message following the win through an Instagram post. In it, No. 88 simply said, "Maybe Four Nation Invite now ?"
Czechia was notably snubbed from the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off tournament for the 2024-25 season. The league instead elected to go with Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the U.S. While these countries have an abundance of immensely talented players, it's clear that Pastrnak believes Czechia deserved a spot because of their talent. Given this gold medal win, he now has a more significant case to work with.
