Dead by Daylight isn't exactly the most polished game out there, but the game's recent update for The Walking Dead has proven to be a bit too problematic for the majority of fans. Even the ever-so-lovable metal beam Jim couldn't soothe the anger over issues that players have been facing over the past few days, with one perk in particular called Streetwise called out as broken and in need of fixes.
To try and combat wonky perks that are a bit too broken when new updates launch, Dead by Daylight has a "Kill Switch" system, which it will use to temporarily remove game-breaking perks that are in need of adjustments. Unfortunately for those having to deal with Streetwise, Behaviour deemed the perk not to be enough of an issue for the Kill Switch, claiming it "didn't meet the criteria".
Understandably, this infuriated players even more, especially since Behaviour has never really outlined exactly what the criteria a perk has to meet to be considered game-breaking. It essentially felt to many as though Behaviour was brushing off the concerns of the majority of the fanbase, complete with a 'mightier than thou' attitude regarding the whole thing.
Dead By Daylight Releases Apology And Kill Switches Streetwise Perk
Thankfully, Behaviour now seems to have seen the daylight, and has issued a statement via its official Twitter account regarding the latest update's quality, saying that the game is "not in the place we all would like it to be". In the post, Behaviour outlines all the changes is going to make in the coming days, the first of which is Kill Switching several perks.
Streetwise is finally getting Kill Switched, as are the perks Blood Rush and Last Stand. It's explained that both Streetwise and Last Stand will be addressed in a hotfix which is launching tomorrow, but that the team didn't want to wait any longer to Kill Switch them both. Several changes are also being made to the fog, while Blood Rush will be addressed in a later hotfix.
Additionally, Behaviour has claimed it will be overhauling its Kill Switch system to make it "more nimble and better account for community sentiment". It has also apologized for the whole Streetwise debacle, and promised to clearly communicate how it decides what perks have to do to meet the game's Kill Switch criteria.
All in all, it's a pretty solid admission of wrongdoing, and the steps being made to address the problems appear to be the right ones. Fans will probably argue that it shouldn't have taken this long for Behaviour to act upon fan complaints, but here's hoping the team has learned and we can all move forward nice and happy. It's what Jim would want.
