Sheen used the video to urge fans to remember the importance of situational awareness because she believes her story could have had a different outcome.
Sami Sheen Recounts Scary Experience
“My friend and I were at this restaurant pretty late, we didn’t leave until midnight,” she told the camera. “And [when] we were leaving, we were in the parking lot taking photos.”
While taking photos, they were approached by a man who came “out of nowhere,” and he asked them for money. Sami says she refused as she had no cash on her and never does. The man continues to press her for money, asking if she can transfer it using an app. She was insistent in her answer, saying “no.”
She continued, “And then he’s like, ‘OK have a goodnight.’ I turn my head and there’s another man in front of us.” This man immediately set off her danger radar, and she claims she got the “worst feeling” in her stomach.
The man asked Sheen and her friend if they spoke Spanish. They said they did not. “He was asking other stuff, but I couldn’t understand what he was saying and then he [started] to reach into his back pocket,” she said. “So I reached into my purse and [pulled] out my pepper spray.”
They then went to their car and locked the doors. “We debriefed it the whole ride home because that was so weird. I feel like they’re working together, I don’t know. We looked through the photos, and this man was watching us the whole time.”
Sami chose to share her story in the hope of bringing awareness and urged her fans to be more aware. “I’m usually very aware of my surroundings, and I did not notice this man,” she said. “So I guess this is your sign to be even more aware and more careful and try to trust your gut because even if it was harmless, it’s better to be safe than sorry.”
