There could be truth and there definitely was some consequences to the latest Juan Soto rumor.

A Twitter post by @omzy__ connected TikTok comments alleging the Mets had offered Soto a 15-year, $700 million offer to an account that appeared to be run by one of the sons of Mets manager Carlos Mendoza.

In a response to a Bleacher Report video projecting Soto’s price tags for the various teams vying for his services, one user — Brady — commented, “Soto to the Sox????”

The response from the account allegedly belonging to Mendoza’s son responded, “Mets offer $700 over 15 so no.”

After another commenter questioned that account, he responded, “bro do you know who inam (sic).”

The account allegedly belonging to the manager’s son included two videos: One of Mendoza’s two sons working out with Francisco Lindor at spring training and another which had “my dad’s speech good?” written over it as the Mets celebrated clinching a playoff spot.

As the post gained steam on Reddit and other platforms, the TikTok account was deleted Friday morning.

The social media drama comes with Soto expected to make a decision in the coming days as the Winter Meetings begin Monday in Dallas.

The Mets, Yankees, Blue Jays, Red Sox and Dodgers are all in the running for the 26-year-old slugging outfielder.

The Post has reported that Soto’s offers are expected to exceed $600 million and Mets owner Steve Cohen — the richest owner in baseball — has made no secret of his willingness to spend.

However, there have been no specific reports on the offers that have emerged since Soto met with all five teams after the season.

“When you’re going through these things, he’s just got a lot of information to meld through,” Soto’s agent, Scott Boras, said at Tuesday’s introductory press conference for Blake Snell with the Dodgers.

“We’ve had meetings with a number of franchises. He’s begun the process of eliminating teams and doing things and so he’s — Juan is a very methodical thinker. So we’ll see. But I don’t think anything is imminent in the near future.”

Juan Soto’s free-agency decision is expected soon.

Soto played last season for the Yankees, slugging 41 home runs to help lead the franchise back to the World Series for the first time since 2009.
