The third season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will be set and filmed in Spain.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is the fifth spinoff of AMC's apocalyptic series The Walking Dead. Norman Reedus has portrayed Daryl since the first season of the main series, whose story is continued in a spinoff that also features his best friend Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride).
Reedus is known for pulling pranks, as he has been in a decade-long prank war with fellow Walking Dead actor Andrew Lincoln. He is always on board for pulling of pranks and is a good sport when the pranks are pulled on him.
A recent image of Reedus "under arrest" has circulated on social media. The photo shows Reedus, hands in a "cuffed" pose, in front of an official-looking vehicle. The post was made by the Spanish Civil Guard (below), who clarified, "NO, we have not arrested the actor Norman Reedus who plays the character Daryl "The Walking Dead."
Another posted stated "The anti-drone team of the Zaragoza Reserve and Security Group (GRS 5) together with colleagues from Citizen Security have provided security during filming."
As most fans who saw the photo guessed, this was all just in good fun. As reported by MeriStation, several days of filming took place in Lower Aragon, and the Spanish Civil Guard and the anti-drone team provided security.
The filming was lead by Spanish director Paco Cabezas and took place in Belchite, a province of Zaragoza which is home to the ruins of the Spanish War. MeriStation reported that Belchite has been a filming location for several movies including Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth and Spider-Man: Far From Home.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3
AMC previously announced that the Daryl Dixon series had been renewed for a third season with the story and filming moving to Spain. This is exciting news for viewers as it will give another glimpse at how Spain has fared since the out break.
Reedus and McBride will return and sevearal new cast members have been announced for this season including Stephen Merchant, Óscar Jaenada, Eduardo Noriega, Alexandra Masangkay, Hugo Arbués, Candela Saitta and more.
Showrunner David Zabel revealed that Merchant will appear in the first episode of season three and describes him as "a very interesting character."
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon returns to AMC and AMC+ exclusively in 2025.
