It's been a couple of years since the end of Below Deck season 9, and many want to catch up on what Rayna Lindsey has been up to. Rayna was arguably the most controversial cast member of the season. Rayna no doubt had a wild season 9, but before and after the Below Deck season 9 episodes started airing, she decided to make some major changes in her life and set out milestones for herself that she intends to pursue.

In Below Deck season 9, viewers saw deckhand Rayna come to head with Chief Stew Heather Chase after Heather's use of a racial slur. Rayna was offended by the inappropriate comment and later confronted her about it, but Heather seemed to shrug her off. Heather claimed she didn't recall using the derogatory word, but the scene was caught on camera. Eventually, Heather admitted to what she had said and ended up apologizing to Rayna both on and off screen, but the relationship between the two never recovered throughout the season.

Rayna made a huge change in her life by being sober while Below Deck season 9 was airing. As of 2024, Rayna has successfully been sober for over three and a half years. At the start of her journey, Rayna took to her Instagram page to celebrate her one-month milestone.

Rayna started her soberity journey right before Below Deck season 9 began airing.

She wrote in the caption, "On November 16th, 2021 I made the conscious decision to put the liquor down for good [...] Drinking was the ultimate coping mechanism for me. The ultimate escape from reality. Now I’m realizing that escaping reality is something I don’t want anymore. I want to feel the pain and the emotions that circulate throughout my body." Rayna hasn't spoken much about her sobriety since, but it seems like she's still taking the commitment seriously.

She Has Several Jobs After Below Deck

Outside her journey to sobriety, Rayna mentioned wanting to move abroad to Mexico, and it looks like Rayna has decided to finally make the big move in 2022. However, she has yet to mention where exactly she was in Mexico. Since then, Rayna has seemingly moved back to the U.S.

According to Show Star News, Rayna was done with reality TV and looking forward to bigger and better things for herself. At the end of 2021, she told fans, "I’m trying to become the next [Karamo] or [Jamie Chung]. I got bigger plans. Way bigger plans." In the meantime, Rayna looks to have picked up pole dancing as a form of self-expression and exercise.

Rayna Is Very Religious Now

As of 2024, Rayna has completely changed her life once again. According to Rayna's Instagram, she stopped posting to the social media platform in March 2023 until recently, in February. Her first post of the year was on February 23, sharing a TikTok-like video of herself nodding and smiling with a caption above her that reads, "When you realize a man that doesn't know God doesn't know what love is at all." She then revealed in her caption that God was changing her perspective. It seems like Rayna has turned to God and is more religious since appearing on Below Deck.

Rayna's life had changed for the better since turning to religion.

Since her first post back to Instagram, all of Rayna's posts have been about her journey to finding God. In a post from March 3, Rayna opens up about being a "baby Christian" and how she finally feels like she's in a better place in her life since turning to religion. Rayna has struggled in the past both in childhood and adulthood; she knows this phase of her life will be her best.

In another Instagram post from April 4, Rayna said in the video that her faith in God not only allowed her to get sober but also leave her seven-year relationship and find the career of her dreams. Religion has brought Rayna piece of mind and has allowed her to become successful in life. Without it, Rayna believes she wouldnt be where she is today.

Below Deck season 9 deckhand Rayna might have had a rocky season, but she has put her time on the show completely behind her. She seems to be living her best life on her journey toward self-discovery and purpose. It might have taken her a while to realize that she had problems that needed fixing, but her progress so far is more than a testament to her willingness to improve herself.
